Yeah! It feels so good to be back painting in plein air! Because I was busy with wedding planning and studio commissions over the summer, my last painting session outside was back in June and I've really missed it! I went out last Saturday afternoon and it was a glorious sunny autumn day - all the beautiful colours were out on display. Only a few hours earlier I was dressed as a scary voodoo doll for my daughter Louisa's first Halloween party. I got the time to quickly change but I think I still had some of my scary make up on while painting!
Here is below the result. It is the view of Bath from a park near where I live. I kept it fresh and loose and had great fun with the paint.

Once the painting finished, I turned around and saw a beautiful light effect in the trees. I just had time for a quick study of it so I worked on a small format and aimed for the essence of it:
