Happy New Year everyone!
What are your resolutions? My arty resolution this year will be to simply become a better painter by trying new subjects and pushing the boundaries as much as possible. An other resolution will be to share more art with this blog which I've neglected a lot last year. So here is a post about my recent flowers paintings to start the year in colours.
I always paint flowers from life (you need to be able to smell the flower perfume to properly paint it!) and when possible I also like painting the same flowers over a few days to see the transformation. Sometimes, even over a couple of hours painting it, a flower can change massively; open, move or even drop! It makes it a bit more challenging but gives you the incentive to capture it quickly.
My aim with those flowers studies is always to capture the essence of it, not overwork it, so it can stay fresh and full of energy. When possible, I've included pictures of the steps as some of you like to see the process.
